Partido Independencia Orihuela Costa (PIOC) is committed to
transforming our community through effective representation and
improved services. Our region, Orihuela Costa, has a rich history and a
bright future—one that demands proper investment and political
representation. Despite being a major contributor to the municipality's
income, our area remains underrepresented and underserved.
Population Growth:
• Orihuela’s total population is 83,000, with one-third in Orihuela
Costa.
• An extra 25,000 live unregistered.
• In 3 years, Orihuela Costa’s population is projected to exceed that of
Orihuela City, and in 15 years, it will represent the majority.
Housing & Economy:
• Currently, there are 60,000 houses in Orihuela Costa versus 30,000
in the rest of Orihuela.
• In 15 years, the forecast is 75,000 houses in Orihuela Costa.
• Orihuela Costa generates 60% of the municipal income but receives
only about 20% back.
• Independence could secure an additional €15 million annually for new investments.
Political Representation:
• The current City Council consists of 25 councillors, none of whom
represent Orihuela Costa.
• Voting and active participation are crucial for electing councillors
who understand our unique challenges.
